CEiMB:Dark Chocolate Mousse

Update: It's been a few days since I've eaten this, and I don't know if I'm just in a better mood, or if sitting for a while has helped, but I'm really growing to LOVE this mousse. It's almost gone, and I'm getting a hankering for some more!
This is another treat to indulge your sweet tooth when you're trying to be healthy, sort of. I have very mixed feelings about this dessert. It's pretty, it's chocolatey, it's rich, and you can reeeeally taste that tofu. So, if you are a fan of all of the above this is the dessert for you! If not, you may just want to stick with chocolate pudding.

I didn't hate it, didn't love it, probably won't make it again, but I did enjoy making it! Check out the recipe here. Thank you Edible Ventures for hosting!

  2. Hmmm interesting. I really like the taste of tofu so I would probably like it, but not as a dark chocolate mousse substitute. I feel like this is one of those things you have to accept as being some weird healthy thing and not try to make it something it's not. It certainly looks good!

  8. I've noticed that a lot of Ellie's desserts have tofu in them. I've always wondered how that would taste. I'm like you, I would probably try it, but I don't know if I would love it or not. Looks pretty though:D

  9. tofu and chocolate sounds like an interesting combination. It looks delicious, but I'm with you it's too easy to ruin a perfectly good chocolaty dessert!

  10. OK. I'm going to pass if the tofu is that noticeable!
Besides, if I'm going to have a chocolate mousse, it's going to be dark, dark chocolate! ;)

  11. Tofu and chocolate is certainly a different and kind of weird combo. I bet you could trick people - it looks really rich and creamy good.

  12. Looks delicious - nice touch with the strawberries. I liked the creamy chocolateyness, but there was an off taste for me, too. I was really hoping it would be better since it was so easy to make, but I don't think I'll make it again either.

  13. I've made a similar recipe that also incorporates sugar free pudding. I'll have to make it again and post the recipe. That was my first time eating tofu and I didn't detect a hint of "off" flavor. I found the recipe on a low carb group. Me and my many diets!!!

  14. I haven't tried tofu in chocolate mousse. I have tried avocado in chocolate pudding. It was kind of weird. I could taste the avocado quite a bit.

  15. I've had a chocolate cake with tofu that was delicious and then I tried to make it myself and it was awful. I haven't had much luck with incorporating tofu in a dessert.

  17. Sorry this one didn't work for you! I used 70% chocolate and it really covered up the taste of the tofu.

  18. I'm not the biggest fan of tofu...so while I can admire the prettyness of this dish, I think I 'll have to pass! hee hee.

  23. Looks wonderful! I see lots of recipes using tofu in desserts. Hmmm. So you can really taste the tofu? I think it would be worth a try. Thanks for sharing this one with us.

  24. LOL. There is nothing you can do to tofu to convince me that I would like it. You're a good sport for trying. Thanks for sharing your thoughts (and reaffirming mine!)

  25. This is one of my favorite desserts (and I don't even like chocolate that much!!). There is just something about that thick but creamy consistency- YUM!
