I worry a lot about what I feed my kids. Living in a world where exercise is limited for kids, and junk food is widely available, I like to do as much as possible to keep them healthy and active. One of my hardest times is when my daughter comes home from school absolutely starving. I'm always on the lookout for healthy snacks that won't fill her up too much before dinner.
This particular snack was a total hit, and super easy. Just any flavor of yogurt, layered with any type of fruit and granola. And since my daughter is quite fancy, the pretty cup didn't hurt either. It's such a simple idea that I'm almost embarrassed to post it, but if you're in the same boat as me, you're up for any snack ideas. So I'll ask you guys...
What kinds of healthy snacks and meals do you feed your kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews? Any tips to get them to eat healthier foods?

The kids sure do come home very ravenous after school, don't they? Your daughter's smile is precious and that is one snazzy looking parfait!
I'm in the same boat with you as far as after school snacks. I try real hard to have things on hand, but my daughter usually ends up having cheezits, goldfish, or junk food. Lately I've been trying to get her to eat fruit, but it's a real struggle.
I'm a parfait junkie...this looks like the greatest snack ever to me :) And now I want one in a fancy glass ;). Even though I don't have my little peanut yet, I already worry about keeping her eating healthy & tasty foods. I think I will definitely be doing lots of homemade bars, trail mixes, yogurt & granola, etc (that is...once she is eating very solid foods haha)
Don't those look amazing! My kids love parfaits after school.
Oh Teresa, that photo of your daughter is so cute! And who could resist this parfait anyway? Not me. What could be easier to make?
This is a wonderful and healthy snack or even a dessert for anyone, kids or adults. Great job.
I wish I had some tips to make kids eat healthier...it's a constant struggle around here. One of those parfaits would certainly be a hit with me!
I love this post! This is an absolutely perfect snack for kids and adults. I think it's adorable that you fancied it up for daughter. What a cutie btw!
This is one of my favorite breakfastes. I love yogurt and granola and if iZ have fresh fruit to throw in, bonus! Your parfait looks perfect with the different fruit.
I make homemade granola bars and oatmeal snack bars for my daughter. Add some apple slices or grapes, and she's quite happy!
The parfait is scrumptious! I would of loved to come home from school and find one of those waiting for me. My nephews are teenagers and they eat a LOT of food - I try to force bowls of fruit on them!
That smile is one you'll treasure years after she's out on her own. The parfaits look wonderful. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary
Looks delicious Teresa! I try not to keep to many sweets around the house and more fruit but it's hard....we all have a sweet tooth here!
What a super healthy delicious snack! I would love to come home from school to that!
My mom used to give us Oreos as a snack, which was probably not the best thing... I'm a huge fan of larabars as a snack food!
I really struggle with healthy snacks for my daughter - especially since she's in a stage where she doesn't want to eat anything good for her. But I'm sure she'd eat one of these - as would I!
love the pic of your daughter, i'd react the same way if someone put that in front of me :)
I never realized how good those were until I had one at a bed and breakfast in Louisville two years ago.
Proof that simple is indeed best. I really enjoy yogurt parfaits too.
If your kids are enjoying something healthy and delicious, then serve it up!
Have a great holiday weekend.

What a great looking yogurt pafait!
I love that picture of her hugging it!
That looks delicious, I may eat one right now!
This sounds like a perfect healthy snack for ME!
I don't eat enough yogurt parfaits. They're just so fun. What a great idea for an afternoon snack.
Light and healthy......mmm. Your girl is adorable.
