Well, the snow has stopped falling and the sun is shining, now it's just a matter of digging ourselves out! I actually can't complain too much about the snow storms though, I've had my husband and kids home to myself for two great days, and we've done a lot of playing and tromping through the snow.
I was really excited about this one, because I love steak, and I love blue cheese. My husband is not a fan of blue cheese, but he like Gorgonzola...I know, apparently he can REALLY taste a difference.
I made a few changes with this recipe. Rather then grilling the onions, I caramelized them. I also made my sauce with fat free half and half instead of buttermilk, added fresh parsley and lots of ground black pepper. This was a really good dish, and the flavors were outstanding. I was still the only one that liked the Gorgonzola sauce, but I'm kind of used to that :) Thanks for hosting Blair, from
Deliciously Golden!
The recipe can be found
here.
Is everyone getting ready for Valentine's Day? Glenn and I are thinking about making our own dinner at home? Does anyone have any good suggestions for a nice dinner at home for two?

I love steak.
And you need pie for dinner for two. Two pies. One for each of you.
This V-day I am making one of the greatest dishes ever IMO. Pot Roast Bolognese! The recipe can be found on Food Network's site and it is simple awesome. I make the Garlic Studded pot roast a few days earlier then use the leftovers for the bolognese. It may not be the most romantic dinner in the world, but the sauce is SO flavorful. My girlfriend and I love it.
BTW, long time reader, first time commenter, love the blog and keep up the great work!
great idea guys! and joe, thanks so much for the idea, i'm definitely checking it out!
Your flank steak looks great. I will have to try it. For dessert, the Red Velvet Cake I posted today. What's not to love about V-Day? grin!
I like the gorganzola sauce. Strawberries and chocolate should be a choice for dessert. ;-D
I love Blue Cheese and meat together. This is right up my alley!
I just a posted a Fillet Mignon with Cognac Sauce that you might like! It's one of our favorites and perfect for Valentines!
Yum, looks good. I bet the sauce is amazing.
I love beef with gorganzola. This meal looks amazing, especially the sauce.
Yeah, I caramelized my onions, too. So tasty. This was a really good dish and the blue cheese/gorgonzola sauce was so good.
looks great oh nice idea to make a fancy dinner at home your a great cook
I'm weird like your husband! I like Gorgonzola and not blue! I think we're just making a comforting soup at home for dinner. We are also planning to go out to either breakfast or frozen yogurt :)Happy weekend and almost Valentine's day
LOL, I made London Broil yesterday with PW's blue cheese onion sauce so we're on the same page! :)Everyone loved that sauce. Even I liked it and I don't like onions.
Your hubby sounds like one of my twins. They both have discerning taste buds. :)

Btw, Teresa I was wondering if you could give me the info again on that book review site? I'm sorry that I didn't make note of it. I cleaned out my email box and forgot to save that comment. Thx! Also, I love the new photo of you and the family! Very nice.
I would totally love the gorgonzola sauce, too. I guess it's a bit too intense for some people, but I love its pungency!
Your marinated flank steak with girganzola sauce looks fabulous! Blue cheese and beef are so flavorful together. Delicious meal.
Glad to hear that the snow has finally stopped and that you had the chance to enjoy some really good quality time with your family. That's priceless.
We love steak! This is right up my alley.
I love gorgonzola with beef. It's a classic combination. I think dinner at home on Valentine's Day is very romantic, especially if someone keeps the kids for you. I think you definitely need to have something chocolately, but I'm a chocoholic!
Yum! God has greatly gifted you
I enjoyed visiting your blog

Grumpy would totally love this steak! I always hear how I don't make it often enough (which is true).
Your gorganzola sauce is perfect with flank steak. It sounds soooo good. I could eat it right now for breakfast.
Great job. This was a good recipe and either blue cheese or gorganzola - it works for me.
My husband and I have a favorite local restaurant here and he always get the steak with gorgonzola sauce. It is sooo delicious. I'll have to try that recipe on him :)
you know I used to think I couldn't tell the difference between blue cheese and gorgonzola but the more I eat them, the more I can. Strange.
This looks delicious! What a great dinner, can't believe it's an Ellie recipe!
I love the sound of this - especially with caramelized onions! How delicious!
Yummm...this sounds restaurant worthy. I would love this as bleu cheese and Gorgonzola are favs; Ole Sweetie-pi would scrape it off and add A-1. Go figure. I'm thinking petit filet mignons tonight. We'll see. Have to hide the A-1 bottle first though.
